Peabody Historical Society Quilt Challenge

Posted on Updated on

Quilters of all levels are invited to participate in the Peabody Historical Society’s first-ever miniature quilt challenge: Reflections on Old Favorites. Participants will choose one quilt from a selection of three antique quilts in the Society’s collection and create a miniature quilt inspired by the design, technique, fabric, or color scheme of the original. Quilters of all levels are welcome. There is no entry fee to participate in this challenge!

Submissions for Reflections on Old Favorites will be exhibited along with the Society’s antique challenge quilts at the Smith Barn, 38 Felton Street, Peabody, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 11-3 pm and Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 12-3 pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to cast a vote for their favorite quilt, and Viewers’ Choice ribbons will be awarded to the top three entries, including a $100 cash prize for first place. This event will also feature an exhibit of antique quilts from the Society’s collection artfully arranged throughout the Nathaniel Felton Senior House.

Entry forms must be received by Monday, March 3, 2014 to participate in the challenge and exhibit. Pictures of the antique challenge quilts, submission guidelines, and entry forms are attached to this email, or you can download these documents at If you would like more information about this challenge, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 978-977-0514 or Thank you for helping us spread the word!
