Bus Trip to NYC

Posted on

Dear MVQ members,

Many of you know me as the quilter who runs the bus to the Vermont Quilt Festival every June. You may have read in my newsletter that I am not running a trip there this summer, but I have a new and exciting trip next month that your members may be interested in.  I am writing to you to let you know about my trip to the Garment District in Manhattan on Saturday, May 14th.  At the present time, the bus is just about half full, and I’d like to extend an invitation to your group to come and join us.

We are leaving at 6 AM from the Park and Ride location in Nashua that’s off exit 8 on Route 3 (aka the Boston Express Terminal location).  From there, we’re heading south to the Burlington Mall, where we’ll be picking up additional passengers, and then we’re off.

We’ll stop at the Charlton Rest stop on the Mass Pike for a rest stop as well as one of several hot breakfast options, and then into the city, arriving late morning.   The bus is a 55 passenger coach bus with full lavatory facilities onboard.

Once we’re in the city, we’ll break into smaller groups to make a walking tour of the area.  Taking 55 passengers anywhere in the area is impractical – we’ll have a hardcopy walking tour of the area in hand, and each group can start and end where they want.  The goal is to have all reassembled in one place, and then departing the city around 5:30.   We’ll be stopping at Rein’s Deli in Vernon CT on the way home.

The cost of this event is $95 per person, which covers the cost of the bus as well as the driver’s tip. All meals and shopping are the responsibility of the passengers.  I am offering a discount of $5 per seat for groups of 5 or more people, so if your guild were to bring a group, that brings everyone’s cost down.

The event is online, and registrations can be made by visiting my website at www.onequiltingcircle.com/events and following the links.
