Meeting Updates

Hello, everyone:

I hope you are staying well and safe in your homes.  I see a lot of quilts for show and tell when this crisis has passed.  Plenty of quilts for our charity and our quilt show.

I’m sending this email to you today to let you know that the board meeting scheduled for 4/1/2020, and the guild meeting scheduled for 4/16/2020 have been cancelled.  This is due to the fact that the school will be closed until 5/4/2020 and the guidelines set by the government for social gatherings, limited to small groups, has been extended to 4/30/2020.

I want to assure you that the members of the board are doing their best to make sure that we continue on with business as usual so that when this crisis passes, Merrimack Valley Quilters Guild will be able to pick up and move forward without a stumble.  We are speaking by phone and corresponding by email on an almost daily basis to handle questions and all situations.  We are moving forward with the hope that we will be able to hold our May guild meeting and our Quilt Show in October as planned.  The quilt show committee is working hard behind the scenes.  If you are a Quilt Show subcommittee member, I thank you for your continued efforts.

At this time, the suggested bylaw changes are on hold until the guild has an opportunity for a group discussion and a vote.  We will take this one day at a time.

Nominations for the executive board positions must move forward.  I am hoping that we can present a slate of nominees at the May 28th guild meeting for an immediate vote.  At present, we do not have a full slate.  Jamie Ruh has agreed to return as next years Secretary and Layne Rando has agree to return as next years Accounts Receivable Treasurer.  We still need nominees for President, Vice President and Accounts Payable Treasurer.  If you wish to nominate yourself or someone else for one of the open positions, please contact the nominating committee:  Diane Kelley, Chair, Judy Naylor, Vice Chair, Linda Lydecker, Deb Desmarais and Maggie Judd.  The continuation of our guild depends on a complete executive committee.  We also need a Programs Chair for next year if we are to continue having programs at our guild meetings.
