Great Journeys

Posted on Updated on

MVQ was fortunate to be audience to three fantastic quilters as they shared their Quilting Journeys with us at the January meeting.

Diana Doucette- talented family member of Nancy Dempsey and Signe Kahil showed us her quilts with the help of her her husband, Gary- proud owner of the Penguin masterpiece!

Linda Lydecker, from the famous Lydecker quilt family displayed her extraordinary creations- Jinny Beyer’s influence were in several. Beautiful!

Betty Hastings, one of the early MVQ members, took a 30 year break and is now back in full force! Applique master! Crazy Quilter extraordinaire!

We are so fortunate to have these very talented and diverse women in our midst.

Thank you to all three- and thank you to Rosemary Bray for inviting them to share their unique journeys.

New location for monthly meetings- starting in December!!!!!

Posted on Updated on

Hi,

We have a new place for our meetings! Beginning with our December meeting we will be in our new location in the Technology Center at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill. This new location is handicap accessible and it has a sound system! YEAH!!!

I want to thank Gail Wozniak and Lyn Grenier for their hard work in finding a new location! I think they called about 50 places and we will all benefit from their wonderful efforts! The goal was to find a spot that would be accessible, comfortable, affordable, and in a convenient location. They succeeded!

We will have our September and October meeting in our normal Plaistow location as the college was already booked for those days. I will provide everyone with directions and parking info. at the fall meetings. Please share this great news with others as it may attract new members too!

I hope you’re having a lovely summer! See you in September!

Gladi Porsche Presentation was truly Inspiring!

Posted on Updated on

This past Thursday evening I presented a trunk show of 37 of my quilts for the Merrimack Valley Quilt Guild.  3 years ago I did a similar presentation at the Images quilt show which was part of the Lowell Quilt Festival but that seemed like a long time ago.  I remember being somewhat nervous for that as it was my first time doing a quilt related presentation.  This time around I actually had fun and wasn’t nervous at all.  It felt like a privilege to be able to share my quilts and my quilting journey.  The guild had a great turnout for me and I had a lot of positive comments afterward.   I’m so happy it went well and was enjoyed.   My contact in the guild was great to work with throughout the planning process and it was fun talking with guild members while I was there.  Thank you Merrimack Valley Quilt Guild!!!!!!

Thank You, Gladi !
