Quilt Show
Well done, MVQ!!!!
A great show is over. Time to sit back on our laurels. Applaud the winners and each and every maker who entered a quilt. It was nice to see even a new member like Heather Shields enter a quilt to be judged!
Thanks to all the worker bees who tirelessly gave every efffort for this event! It can’t be done without you.
Thanks to the demonstrations given and organized by Gail; Lyn Grenier, Maddie Burke, Jeannie Robertson, Betty Hastings, Janice Jones, and Pat Lucey.
The ribbons were beautiful- made by a group sewing together[among them, Jan Taylor, Carol Sullivan, Cathy Harnish and others, I am sure!] and Addy for the lovely vendor ribbons.
Challenge was fun!
Penny raffle, as usual, drew a crowd- Thanks, Kathy, Gail etc.
White Elephant ladies- Angie and Barbara outdid themselves!
Carrie our judge and show hanging organizer: we are very grateful!
Vendors- thanks to Marianne and Bev! Nice gathering.
Thanks to Bev for the Silent Auction!
And to have a very deserving winner of our raffle quilt- Jeannie Elliot, made it all the better! You are wrapped in love from every member of this guild!
And of course, without Jane and Layne, none of this would have been possible. Brava! Ladies of MVQ

Quilt Show Information
Information for the 2014 Show:
There will be a $3.00 entry fee for each quilt to be judged. This will help with the cost of hiring a judge and giving out awards. There is no charge for non-judged quilt.
The Theme is “The Art of Quilting, Painting with Fabric and Thread”
The Quilt Show Committee needs the following positions filled as soon as possible. These positions are very important for the success of our show. Without them we risk low attendance and no show brochures.
Here is a brief overview of each position
Publicity:
- Prepare Quilt Show information packets to be sent to quilt shops and other guilds.
- Send press releases to newspapers and other publications.
Advertising:
- Identify businesses that may be interested in advertising in our Show Brochure
- Mail letters requesting them to place ads
- Follow up by e-mail or phone call
To volunteer or get more information please contact Jane Hamel at janehamel@yahoo.com. Or Layne Rando at laynesloft@comcast.net.
An Open Letter to all Members
Dear Fellow Guild members,
I attended a meeting of the Quilt Show Committee on Monday evening. Relatively new members, Elaine Rando and Jane Hamel have graciously undertaken the job of co-chairing. Five other people attended- all were “war veterans” of this guild, having held positions of President, VP, Quilt show, programs, etc. etc, etc! Not a fresh face was in the group.
Please ask yourself these questions:
- Where was I?
- Am I afraid to volunteer?
- Do I have any ideas worth noting?
- Will it take a lot of my time?
- Why should I do it when others will step forward?
Grab a friend and offer your abilities. Fresh ideas and fresh enthusiasm is needed!!!!!!
The guild is only as good as its’ volunteers. See Elaine or Jane to see what you can do.
You will make new friends and actually enjoy the Guild more!
Sincerely,
Pat Lucey
