Quilt Show Challenge

MERRIMACK VALLEY QUILT CHALLENGE

2025

“Faces and Vases”

2025 Rules

  • Create a wall hanging no larger than 18 inches wide by 22 inches long, depicting a face or a vase.
  • Your wall hanging must be a quilt sandwich—at least three layers—top, batting, back—held together with stitching, and a finished edge—binding, facing, or equivalent. It must also have a hanging sleeve and label per our regular Quilt Show requirements.
  • You can use ANY method you enjoy to make a small wall hanging representing a FACE or a VASE, or you can even combine the two ideas and do a Combo FACE/VASE wall hanging! It can be pieced, appliqued, collaged, fabric paint/pencils, embellished or not! It can be traditionally quilted, thread painted, embroidered, big stitch, etc… you get the idea!
  • You can use a purchased or free pattern or design your own!

Your masterpiece can be realistic, modern, and inspired by Picasso; the sky’s the limit!

Judging details to follow.

If you have any questions, please email Beth Bell Lavoie.

Happy sewing!

The plan so far is that challenge entries will be judged as part of our judging process right before the quilt show. Ribbons (not prizes) will be awarded as appropriate. If you want your quilt judged, there will be a $6 fee. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this process!!

From a new member – Is this an annual challenge? Will there be a quilt show challenge for 2023? If so, will it be for the same timeframe – March to mid-May?
