Face Mask Donations

Posted on Updated on

The news has been a bit confusing regarding the efficacy of the home made masks. I can tell you the response I got from employees at Lawrence General Hospital was overwhelming. They were thrilled to get the masks.

If you were on the fence as to whether or not to make them, please do. If you do not want to go out of your house, I can come pick them up. Otherwise there is a plastic bin on my back deck to drop them off.

I have been using Goodie hair elastics since I have been unable find 1/4 inch elastic. Just cut at the join and use as you would the flat elastic. Is 6 inches long when cut and fits comfortably around ears.

    Hi Cathy and members,
The news around home made masks has been confusing to us at Holy Family, as well. But as of Friday, March 27 we are all required to wear masks at all times in the hospital. I spoke with the Director of Nurses and she is welcoming masks and also asked about scrubs. The thought in the hospital is the virus will ramp up over the next 2 weeks and we are going to run short of protective gear. If you are willing to make them, I can pick up from your porch if you are not leaving your home. If you can go to the hospital, leave at front door and materials management “ Randy” will accept all donations. Thank you in advance! From all of us at the hospital, we greatly appreciate it! Joanne

I brought a few over to HFH on Sunday. I will bring more as I get them.

Last night I sent an email to Liz Swan asking her to post an email I received from the Fabric Corner in Arlington. They are getting a large shipment of 1/4 inch elastic next week. Haven’t seen it posted. You have to call the store and leave a message with your contact info and how many yds you’d like. Cost is 5yds/$8. There doesn’t seem to be a limit. They will call the names in order of messages received when the elastic arrives. Drive by pickup. If you’re interested, don’t delay, get in the phone message queue ASAP.
Happy mask making. The hospitals have been thrilled to get them!
