Just a quick reminder from Membership to ask that you renew your membership to MVQ over the summer so you can be entered into the free membership drawing.  Just print off a copy of the membership application and send it to me with your check.  When you renew ahead of time, it helps the Membership Committee get a great start for September!  Thanks in advance!!!

Committee Positions for 2017-18

The Executive Board for the Merrimack Valley Quilters Guild is putting together a list of members who will participate as a committee chair or co-chair for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.  As a committee chair or co-chair for the 2016-2017 fiscal year, we need to know if you wish to continue your position for the next year.  Please let me know, either way, if you plan to continue your position.  We need to fill all the positions before the end of June.  We hope you will continue the good work you did in 2016-2017.  Please let me know as soon as possible.  I appreciate your service and your continued support.

Thank you,

Elizabeth Swan, Vice President

Thank you to all who brought in their blue and white squares or fabric pieces for our next raffle quilt project! The response has been TREMENDOUS!

For those of you who are still working on their squares, please mail them to either Betty Hastings or Mary Jo Ray. Contact information can be found on your copy of the MVQ member listing. We will accept squares until mid January only.

Those who have contributed to this project, remember that you now qualify for the drawing of the ” contributors” quilt blocks to be held this coming Spring 🙂 Thanks again for making so many squares. Happy and Healthy New Year!

Thank You again,
Betty Hastings and Mary Jo Ray

Happy 4th of July 2011

Hi Quilters! Happy 4th of July! I hope you enjoy the long weekend and the fireworks. As you help out your friends and family by volunteering to do the dishes or pack the car or mix the drinks…. think about how your volunteering for the guild will help your quilting friends enjoy all the events and projects underway for the next year. I want to thank the numerous volunteers who have spoken up and will take on tasks or projects that will give us hours of fun.

The guild pays for the speakers and supports workshops so that we all have the opportunity to learn new skills. Then we can put those skills to good use by making comfort quilts for the chosen charity. The funding for the guild comes from several major efforts during the year: the UFO auction, the raffle quilt, and the quilt show. The raffle quilt is nearly ready to attend its first show this summer and selling the tickets is a duty of MVQ members. Unfortunately we do not have a person or team to organize the quilt’s appearance at different venues and organize members to stay with the quilt and sell tickets. The guild needs member(s) to step up and take on the role of Raffle Quilt Travel Chairperson as soon as possible! If the quilt is not brought to the major shows over the next 6 months it will only be displayed at our own show and members will individually need to sell more tickets.

Speaking of our Quilt show next spring… isn’t that just a wonderful event every year? My friends and family who come to it always are impressed with our skills and artistry. Wouldn’t it be a disappointment to cancel the show? There are many members who handle the subcommittees of organizing and putting on the show but we do not yet have a Chairperson (or team) to keep track of all the activities. The Chairperson is needed immediately to pick the dates and theme of the show. Please consider volunteering for the Quilt Show Chairperson role!

I am very concerned that these positions are not filled and worry about it every day. Please, jump into the pool with some friends and make a splash for the guild! Contact me at or my phone number on the members list.

Volunteering is good for the soul.
